What is UV?
UV stands for Ultra Violet, and represents a frequency of light, at which some security barcode inks and ribbons fluoresce. InData Systems has patended optics, which are able to "see" and decode the otherwise invisible barcodes printed in UV inks.

Can I read linear barcodes with the various InData Optics and Readers?
Yes, but they must fit within the F.O.V. of the optics used, or you must remove the InData Systems Optics to allow reading of larger Linear codes.

What size linear barcodes can I read with the UV optics?
All InData Systems scanners are able to read the following 2-D barcodes; PDF417, MicroPDF417, MaxiCode, Data Matrix, QR Code, Aztec, Aztec Mesas, Code 49, and EAN*UCC Composite, as well as the following linear barcodes; Codabar, Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, Code 93, Code 128, UPC, EAN, RSS and Codablock.

What size 2-D barcodes can I read with the UV optics?
The InData Systems "UV-80" is able to read 2-D barcodes of a size of up to .6" (15mm) square, with a Narrow Bar element of .030 inches (0.65mm). Of course, it must be applied with a UV ink, which fluoresces in the correct wavelengths.

How do I use USB with my unit?
All of the InData Systems scanners and readers come with the built in USB interface, and all you require is the correct USB cable for the various models, and with a single scan of the programming barcode, the units will operate with your USB.

Can I scan the data into Notepad or Microsoft Word?
Yes, all of the InData Systems scanners and readers can place scanned data into all Microsoft applications. The data is merely seen as keyboard-entered data.

What types of cables are available for the units?
All of the InData Systems scanners and readers are offered in RS232, USB and Keyboard Wedge versions, and we offer cables to allow you to use any, or all of the interfaces within the scanners.

I have a PS/2 keyboard; can I use the unit in USB?
Yes, you simply require the correct USB cable for the Model you have, with a single scan of the programming barcode, the units will operate with USB.
